Philippe
Philippe Mouchel is one of Australia’s most well-loved French chefs. He is respected and recognised around the world for his talent and is a trusted mentee of Paul Bocuse. His most recent venue, Phillipe, offers refined French dishes with a focus on seasonal produce. The space features a beautiful zinc bar from which oysters are shucked to order.
For the brand identity we created a bespoke wordmark reminiscent of old Parisian cookery books. We also developed an illustration of a rooster, the iconic emblem of traditional French cooking, rendered in a handcrafted mosaic aesthetic. We commissioned Mosaic Republic to create the external menu box for paper menus to be housed and updated daily. The Hungry Workshop printed the collateral outcomes including business cards and vouchers, using letterpress with inks in bright ultramarine and vermillion. We undertook art direction for both the food and interior images, in collaboration with Kristopher Paulsen. The shots are minimal with a focus on the craft and beauty of the food and beverage. The responsive website has a focus on ease of use and simplicity of navigation.
